Honestly — this isn’t for everyone

Good fit if...
  • You’ve received a debt collection letter, demand notice or solicitor’s letter
  • You’re unsure if the debt is valid or statute barred
  • You think the fees or amount claimed may be excessive
  • You’re willing to send the dispute letter yourself
  • You’d rather pay £29 than settle a potentially invalid debt
Less suitable if...
  • You’ve already received a County Court Judgment (CCJ)
  • You acknowledge the debt and have no grounds to challenge
  • You need legal representation in court
  • The amount exceeds £10,000 (consult a solicitor)

Based on UK consumer debt law

Legal basis
Our analysis is based on the Limitation Act 1980, Consumer Credit Act 1974 and FCA regulations. We focus on England and Wales law.
What we check
Statute of limitations, notice of assignment, proof of original debt, fee legitimacy and FCA regulatory compliance.
What we are not
We don’t provide legal advice and don’t act as legal representatives. For complex cases we recommend Citizens Advice or a solicitor.

What you need to know — before you pay

You receive a ready-to-send dispute letter. Sending it takes 5 minutes and could save you the full amount claimed.
Sending a dispute letter does not automatically stop enforcement. We’ll clearly explain the situation in your report.
If the debt turns out to be valid, you still receive a full report with a clear explanation and your options going forward. No empty reports.
If your dispute is rejected, we provide concrete next steps: Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), FCA complaint, or court proceedings.
DebtCheck is for people willing to send the letter themselves — in return, you keep 100% of any saving.

Everything you need to know

What letters can I upload?
Debt collection letters, demand notices, letters from debt collectors (Lowell, Cabot, Intrum etc), solicitor’s letters and other payment demands. PDF, JPG and PNG are all supported.
When is a debt statute barred?
In England and Wales, most debts become statute barred after 6 years from the last payment or written acknowledgement (Limitation Act 1980). Scotland: 5 years. Once statute barred, the creditor cannot obtain a CCJ, though the debt technically still exists.
What if the debt turns out to be valid?
You still receive a full report with a clear explanation of the situation, your options for negotiating repayment, and tips to avoid further charges. You never pay for an empty report.
Is this legal advice?
No. This is an informational analysis based on your letter. We do not provide legal advice. For complex situations or large amounts, we recommend Citizens Advice or a regulated solicitor.

Your document is permanently deleted after analysis. We do not store personal data beyond what is necessary for processing.
